Old Lesbian, New T-Shirt

I just got this shirt in the mail. It makes me happy, I got it from Older Lesbians Organizing for Change (OLOC). I saw it on Alix Dobkin in a photo, and had to have it. Found it after some searching, (I'm a very good finder).

Got great feedback from Facebook. Getting older, it isn't as easy as I thought. Luckily I have plenty of time to figure out how to get healthy. Right now I'm a little more into indulging, to comfort myself. Paddy is coming to visit, she is a healthy influence.

Summer has come with a vengeance. It was cold for months, and now we are having a heat wave. I need to remember to go out before it gets too hot.
Summer is here, good time for vacations.

Mother's Day Paella

This Mother's Day, Maya made Paella for all her moms. That is a big deal. We all were at Lisa's house, she is a very relaxed host. Paella is a fun food to eat, and this one was huge, and we ate it right out of the pan. Aggie, Maya and I also went out for lunch the day before.
Aside from rain on and off for days, all is well. Went to a party at Marlene's for Miche who was back in town. It was a fun reunion. I've been connecting with people from my youth through facebook. So interesting that time in my life is coming back. Especially when I am starting to feel my age. Where is that fountain of youth?

Its My Birthday Week

420-This was my actual birthday, and I felt loved and pampered by all my friends and family.

We went away for the weekend to the coast, and has such a relaxing, fun time.

I had a great acupuncture treatment, and finally felt something move in me. My heart was opened, I wept with release. Now my back needs to follow. Last night I went to see Wicked with Aggie after dinner at Zenon. More birthday activities today and this weekend. Then there is spending my gift money. It feels good to be alive, knock wood.

RVing in Spring

I got out and about this last weekend to meet up with RVing women in Bandon. I first went to Florence and camped at Honeyman, and then went on to Bandon. The motorhome was great for almost all of the trip. My back and legs even gave me a reprieve for a while. Got to walk the most beautiful of beaches and Coco got to run free. The weather too was wonderful. It was great to get out of the home for a while and start spring on a new adventure. This is a big year, turning 65 and I feel it.

Trip Down Memory Lane

I just got this photo of me from a friend Jill Jackson, that I reconnected with from facebook. It took me way back. This was a time I was first on my own, creating my family of friends. I have so few pictures of me in my 20's and this one is quite beautiful. I even remember the shirt.
It came on a day I was dealing with my friend Harriet's mother who is declining mentally and physically. It is a good reminder to cherish the vitality I still have. I do feel more like this young girl than I do an old woman, however I am closer in age to the latter. Anyway, I am staring at this picture, absorbed by my youth, or rather young adulthood. Wasn't I pretty?

Funny thing is Aggie has a very similar picture. I will post it if I can find it.

Happy Valentine's Day

To all my friends, I wish you love. I just made molten chocolate espresso cups. They were intense, but in my opinion a little too sweet so therefore not chocolaty enuf. However there was enuf chocolate to keep me from falling asleep last night. Aggie and I made a delicious dinner of shrimp and vegetables and white bean & chard soup. It was very good.

This winter has been easier than winters of the past. I have been enjoying the dry weather we've been having even though they predict rain every day. I go out every day with Coco or by myself, and that seems to make a big difference. I also started volunteering at Food for Lane County. It was so much fun. Ginger and I chopped up 190 lbs, of chicken to used in various kitchens in Lane County. I'm taking an herb class and I love it. It is so validating to get so much information about alternative healing that has been used for centuries.

Happy New Year 2011

So far so good. I made it though the December holidays, and have come out the other side. Been doing a little art with Maya, some silk scarves. I will show the latest. She was so generous and gave me her best, at least in my opinion.

Went to Odell and had some fun cross country skiing, hiked up Spencer Butte the first of the year back in town. Getting a little more exercise in my life. Trying to eat healthier too. It is always a struggle to get over addictions. Like I said in the beginning so far, so good.
