Neskowin and Newport Vacation

Proposal Rock in Neskowin

View from our room
Hawk Creek in Neskowin

This last weekend Agatha and I went to Neskowin for the first time. A wanted to try something different. P said it was her favorite place so we ventured. And it is enchanted. What a view, and a cozy little town, if you can call it that: a general store, rental agent and a very good cafe. We had a great weekend, and the weather couldn't have been better. It didn't even seem to take long to get there.

We met J and G for dinner at the Sylvia Beach hotel. It was a lot of fun, we played two truths and a lie with the people at our table. What a great way to get to know people better. I usually don't like to talk with strangers but they soon became friends. It was a perfect birthday weekend.

Babies and Child Care

This is what I have been doing the last few weeks. M just started Middle School, and I have been filling in the gaps of picking her up. Her after school program starts sometime this week. I have enjoyed being able to be involved more in her school activities. I even went to math night. It was fun. They have some very nice technology. Her schedule is confusing, and I liked it better when she stayed with us for a whole week at a time. But all things do change.

I spent this morning with J and C's new twin babies. They are very sweet. I held little J for the whole time. He's a cuddler. We had our moments. His brother little C is jovial and entertaining, and I also got to spend time with big sister. She is swell and shared her artwork. Maybe pictures to come later.

Scones and Stones

Janice requested the breakfast scones recipe from Kate and Amy. Here it is Yumm.
1 ¾ cup flour
¾ cup oatmeal
2 tsp baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
¼ cup brown sugar
½ cup butter or marg.
Dried fruit (dates, cranberries, currants, raisins)
Nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds)
2 eggs
¼ cup buttermilk or yogurt

Blend dry ingredients, cut in butter. Add fruit and nuts. Whisk eggs & yogurt together; add to dry. Stir with floured hands, knead several times in bowl till you’ve picked up all the dry and have a nice ball. Flatten on to buttered cookie sheet to 1” thick round. Cut with sharp floured knife into 8 wedges. Bake at 400° for 20 min.

We have just finished the walkway path to and from the carport. At least Jeff our neighbor did the work. He was a delight to work with and did a beautiful job. He made Aggie's garden look even better.
