Adventure, Art and Alice on my Birthday

Had a great adventure to Brice Creek and Cedar Creek Falls on my birthday. The waters were raging and we saw so many waterfalls. Coco added to our adventure by going in the water. She picked a spot where it was more still, but then couldn't get back up the rocks to us. Aggie and I sprinted like gazelles to her safety.

Went to an art museum opening and later out for some eats at the U of O campus. It has been a perfect birthday so far, getting loved and adored by all my friends. Then lastly I got Salvador Dali's Alice in Wonderland chapter, "the Pool of Tears" from Paddy. I have been wanting that for a long time. It is great to get what you want. Kunehura.

Bringing Back That Aloha Spirit

Just back from Kauai, and it was beautiful, breathtaking, and relaxing. I'm still singing "don't worry be happy". We had several condo's right on the ocean, went snorkeling, walking, sightseeing, helicopter riding, and lot's of good eating. Saw seals, fish, birds, chickens, flowers. That ocean water was perfect, warm and wonderful. Great friends to share it with. It took a couple of days to start to relax, but then it set it, and hopefully will stay a while. Harriet was able to pull off a miracle getting us all there, and then treating us to a candlelight sunset dinner.
The biggest feat was changing the weather from rain and floods to sunny and warm. Made it happen. Mehalo.

More Prints to Come

Second class even better than the first. Made three linocuts this time, and they came out great. I surprised myself and did what I planned. Played around, and made some art. It was way easier than I thought.

Print Making Class at Craft Center

Just went to my printmaking class at the U of O craft center. It was fun. I love the atmosphere there very casual and positive. We did oil based monoprinting. I made several pieces and had fun experimenting, not expecting results. We used two techniques, one painting directly on the plexiglass with multiple colors and one transferring one color by different techniques. The class was fun.

Remembering Roadie

On January 11, 2012 Roadie passed over. We will miss him and his gentle presence on this earth. He was a quiet soul, with a kind and curious nature. He would let Maya dress him and carry him around. He looked forward to Aggie coming home from work, as if he had a clock, from his Doggie Day Care upstairs. I would listen for him climbing the stairs and coming in his little doggie door. Coco loved having his companionship. He left us as sweetly and gently as he came into our lives. We love and miss him. He is on the Roadie again.

To All My Friends

This is to all my friends that make me laugh so hard I need to wear my poise pad to be with them. Thank you for all the laughs, I know I am having a good time when I'm laughing that much.

Just came back from visit with Barb and Ruby. It was so nice. It was a wonderful weekend. Got to hang out, eat really
delicious food, do fun things, and laugh a lot. I feel inspired to do art. Here is a picture from an autumn walk in the Northwest. No Palm trees, but right now we have the color.

Culinary Class at Lane

I got into the cooking class at Lane. I have been trying for a while. It is a hoot. I went to the first class, and we made pasties. The guest chef was the owner of "Cousin Jack's Pasties". Every week there is a different guest chef with a particular point of view. This one was all about natural, organic, and locally made. I still need to register.
I was surprised how comfortable I am in the kitchen. The best part is that we make and get to eat some great food. We learned some of the basics, like saying "behind you" when you walk behind someone, so they don't stab or burn you. I did slip on the wet floor, (I think another visit to the chiropractor is in order). It was total chaos in the kitchen, but miracles happen and we made some delicious pasties. The crust was incredible. The secret ingredient- orange juice in the crust. Of course I am the oldest in the class, or should I say elder. It is nice when you get what you want.
